MICHAEL KIERAN HARVEY’S 60TH BIRTHDAY BASH

Virtuoso pianist, esteemed composer, and thrower of birthday parties in the museum—to which you’re all invited. It’s also the world premiere of Michael’s new piano sonata, The Sparrow and the Mead Hall.

This concert is a celebration of Michael’s life and work, with collaborators Emily Sheppard (violin), Scott Tinkler (trumpet), Simon Reade (trumpet), Arjun von Caemmerer (concrete poetry), Saxby Pridmore (conservative poetry), Raphael and Isabella Harvey (trumpet), Matt Hurditch (trombone), and Brian Ritchie (shakuhachi) joining the birthday boy on stage.

Piano Sonata #7: The Sparrow and the Mead Hall was commissioned by Mary Pridmore, formerly of Musica Viva (Tasmania’s leading presenter of chamber music). Mary was recently diagnosed with motor neurone disease, and profits from the show will be donated to MND research.
